Question:
‘91 Dodge Spirit R/T 39,000 Miles Four-wheel disc brakes $6900
It sounds like a fine price. I bought a ‘91 with 26K mi for $7500 in Jan ‘95 and feel that I got a real killer deal, so this sounds good. The cars are great to drive. However I would do some checking of the car before I commit. Get the VIN and call a Dodge dealer and ask them to do a computer run down on the repair history of the car. They can tell you about all the dealer repair jobs done on the car. Next determine if the warranty is transferable, if not be prepared to buy the Chrysler 4/48 used car coverage plan. The cyliner heads (Lotus) of these cars can be a problem. If one goes bad (and lots have) the head alone will be about $3000. Next if you buy the car have TSB 9-2-95 installed. This replaces the three steel head plugs (between the spark plugs) with aluminium ones. The differential expansion of the steel and the aluminium head has been a major cause of head cracks on these motors. I’ve seen some with 80K going for $9000, but that’s in plain white
The white ones are the really rare ones and probably get higher prices. There were 1208 R/Ts produced in ‘91. Check the R/T info in http://www.mordor.com/valiant/. If two people claim to be Jesus, one of them must be wrong. ‘91 Dodge Spirit R/T – you don’t notice it until it’s gone

12,500.00 not 8000.00. the r/t was a limetid production super car with only 1108 units produced in 91 and only 700 in 92. the red is the only other color available in 91 white being the rareist in 92 only red was available.if the car is in good shape buy it. one area of concern is the spark plug valley remove the cover and inspect between the spark plugs and the screw in plugs for signs of oil or anti freeze. this is a problem startin to show up in these cars around 35000 miles or so. the factory fix is to replace the steel plugs with aluminum. if it is not already done take it to your dealer for compliance as it is a tsb. do yourself a favor and double check this area if you dont find the problem and fix it now your repair bill will be around 5200.00. yes i do speak from experience e-mail me and ill give you all the insight you will ever need and i am also trying to start a database on these cars to track this and any other problems of good things 92 spirit r/t 86 shelby charger 73 power wagon 69 dart gts

I am planning to buy this car this week, and would like to know if I am getting a good deal: ‘91 Dodge Spirit R/T 39,000 Miles 2.2-liter, 227 HP, twin cam, inter-cooled, turbocharged engine aluminum wheels with four BRAND NEW Comp T/As Every interior and power option NO rust Four-wheel disc brakes $6900 My father owns a used car dealership, and the book says that this car is worth $7200 wholesale and $8800 clean – is this a good deal? It’s bright red, perfectly clean inside and out (like NEW!!) and never been hit before. I’ve seen some with 80K going for $9000, but that’s in plain white – this is the only Dodge Spirit I’ve seen with some sex appeal. Thanks in advance, Wes
